Staff Profiles

This page gives a brief overview of the staff at ISNA High. It highlights the educational background and some accomplishments of each staff member.

Mr. S. Rasoul - Vice-Principal

 

Mr. Rasoul has joined us from Olive Grove School last year where he was a teacher and an active contributor to the school community. He has memorized the Qur’an and conveys his knowledge through khutbas and halaqas at various mosques within the GTA. Mr. Rasoul has an electrical engineering degree from Ryerson University and a Bachelor’s of Education degree from the University of Toronto. He has completed a principal’s qualification course during the summer and is currently pursuing his Masters in Education degree from Brock University.

 

Ms. A. Jamali - Administrative Assistant

 

We are delighted to have Ms. Jamali return to ISNA High School this year. She is a great role model and an active contributor to the community. Her academic background includes an undergraduate degree in Economics with a minor in Psychology from Carleton University in Ottawa. She has a strong background and over seven years of experience in clientele relations. She has been recognized and has received many awards for her outstanding performance and efficiency.

 

Ms. S. Hasan - Guidance Counsellor/ Teacher

Ms. Hasan was born and raised in Canada, and has been an active volunteer for various Muslim organizations, such as One-Ummah, Naseeha and Al-Ghazali.  She completed a Bachelor of Science degree (graduating with Distinction) from the University of Toronto, majoring in Biology and Psychology.  After working in the Pharmaceutical sector for several years, she returned to the University of Toronto and completed her M.Ed from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE).  We are looking forward to having her as part of the administration team as a guidance counsellor and teacher this year.

Mr. M. Qureshi - Guidance Counsellor/ Teacher

Mr. M. Qureshi graduated with an BSc from the University of Toronto in November 2006. He majored in Physics and Economics and minored in Chemistry. During his undergraduate studies he was a Laboratory Demonstrator and Assistant for two undergraduate physics courses. In June of 2007, Mr. Qureshi completed his earned his B. Ed from OISE/UT with Physics and Chemistry as his teachables. From September 2007 to January 2008, he was a grade 6 homeroom teacher at AlFalah Islamic School.  He has been working with the Peel District School Board since then, with teaching assignments at Bramalea Secondary school and Meadowvale Secondary School.  During this time he also earned an Additional Qualification for teaching Senior Mathematics from OISE/UT. He is now teaching grade 12 University preparation Physics at ISNA High School while also performing Guidance Counseling duties.

Mr. W. Abdul-Ghani - Teacher (French/Arabic/Art)

It is our humble pleasure to have Mr. Abdul-Ghani as part of our staff. Mr. Abdul-Ghani has been teaching for over 48 years, and has specifically been with ISNA for 16 years. He has studied in many parts of the world, such as Lebanon, Syria, and right here in Toronto, where he completed his studies in the faculty of Education at York University. Aside from his passion for teaching, Mr. Abdul-Ghani is also the author of various text books, such as, General Geography, Lebanon & Arab Countires, and Economic Geography.

Mr. A. Sattar - Teacher (Business/Computers)

Mr. Sattar is returning to ISNA after a great year where he built a strong rapport with the students, staff, and community members. He has received a degree in Commerce from the University of Toronto and has done his Post Graduate Certificate of Education at the University of London, in England. He has over nine years of teaching experience and is currently pursuing a Masters of Education degree at Brock University. He also owns and operates a private tutoring centre for math and science.

Ms. A. Lodi - Teacher (English)

Mrs. Lodi has over twenty years of wide-ranging teaching experience. She has a Masters degree in English Literature and a teaching certificate from the University of Edinburgh. She also has a teaching certificate in TESL She has taught TOEFL classes and Functional English to nursing programs at Agha Khan University Hospital. As part of her extensive experience, she has also had the opportunity to evaluate University of Toronto interns pursuing a B. Ed. degree. Mrs Lodi has also been active in teaching workshops in Reading and Writing.

Ms. M. Khawaja - Teacher (Science)

Ms. Khawaja is a welcomed addition at ISNA this year. She went to University of Toronto (UoFT) for her undergraduate degree, completing her double majors in Biology and Psychology. She did her BEd degree from Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE - UoFT), specializing in Intermediate/Senior Biology and Mathematics. She brings her teaching experience in senior level science and math courses from public schools. Ms. Khawaja is a computer savvy and has also worked as an I.T. assistant at UoFT for two years. In addition, Ms. Khawaja has been actively participating in various extra curricular activities, professional conferences and workshops. She’s a proud recipient of many academic as well as non-academic awards.

Mr. A. Menla - Teacher (Social Science)

Mr. Menla has joined ISNA High School this year. He has completed his Bachelors of Arts, majoring in English and History at the University of Toronto. He has also managed to complete a minor in Political Science as well. He has recently earned his Bachelors of Education with English qualifications at the University of Windsor. Over the past summer, he has also completed an Additional Basic Qualifications course in Senior History at York University. During the time he has spent studying, Mr. Menla has volunteered and worked tutoring High School students at a number of tutoring and learning centers.

Mr. T.A. Khan - Teacher (Islamic Studies/Social Science)

Mr. Khan joined ISNA High School September 2009.  He was born and raised in Canada and is more than familiar with the public education system as well as the challenges that face Muslim Canadian youth. Mr. T. A. Khan has taught at Al-Falah Islamic School and Nur-ul-Huda Academy. He graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Sociology from the University of Western Ontario. He also graduated in June of 2009 with a Bachelor’s of Education from York University.

Mr. O. Hussain - Teacher (Math/Computers)

Mr. Hussain joins our staff at ISNA High School this year with much promise and energy. Born and raised in Alberta, he holds a B.Sc. in computer science (business minor) with distinction from the University of Alberta. After working six years in the IT industry, he left to obtain a B.Ed. from York University. He went on to attain his MA in journalism from the University of Western Ontario, and is eager to share his knowledge and experience with the school and community insha-allah.

Ms. J. Sweiss - Teacher (History/Social Science)

Ms. Jenna Sweiss, is part of the new staff to join the dedicated team at ISNA High School this year. Ms. Sweiss graduated with distinction from the University of Toronto where she completed a double major in English Literature and Political Science and a double minor in History and Canadian Interdisciplinary Studies. Ms. Sweiss also completed her Bachelors of Education from OISE at The University of Toronto where she did extensive work on inclusive education and critical pedagogy. Ms. Sweiss models active citizenship for her students and educates them about the system so that students are better able to navigate through society and participate in the dialogue of social justice. Ms. Sweiss has done significant work with under privileged youth both at home and abroad, most notably travelling to various refugee camps throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Ms. E. Zeini - Teacher (Math)

Ms. E. Zeini has a bachelors and masters degree in Mathematics. She has worked 14 years teaching mathematics at the high school and university levels. Her experience has been enriched through teaching at various countries and cultures such as Alexandria, Egypt and Dubai, UAE. She also worked on a diploma in Neuro Linguistic Programming which focused on dealing with various student abilities and personalities. She has written many papers that were published in well defined mathematical magazines. Currently, she is pursuing her Ph.D. from the University of Toronto.
